Frequently asked questions
Is an SL ticket valid on Stockholm's ferries?
Yes on the commuter boats, partly on Waxholmsbolaget
Yes on SL's commuter boats – lines 80, 82 (the Djurgården ferry), 84 and 89. On Waxholmsbolaget, all SL tickets are valid between Strömkajen, Vaxholm and the piers in between all year, and in low season (14 September–29 April) SL travel passes of 30 days or longer are valid on every boat. SL tickets are not valid on the Cinderella boats.
Where do the archipelago ferries leave from?
Strömkajen, Stavsnäs, Årsta brygga, Strandvägen
From Strömkajen in the city centre, Waxholmsbolaget's boats go to the northern and central archipelago, nearly all via Vaxholm. Stavsnäs on Värmdö is the shortest way to Sandhamn, and Årsta brygga on Södertörn the shortest way to Utö. The Cinderella boats leave from Strandvägen.
How do I take the ferry to Djurgården?
The Djurgården ferry from Slussen, or line 80
The Djurgården ferry, SL line 82, runs from Slussen via Skeppsholmen to Allmänna gränd by Gröna Lund. Line 80 from Nybroplan also calls at Allmänna gränd. A regular SL ticket is valid on both.
Do the ferries run in winter?
Yes, less often – Cinderella in summer only
Yes, but less often. Waxholmsbolaget runs a winter timetable, and many lines to the outer islands only run in summer. The Djurgården ferry and several of the commuter boats run in winter too. The Cinderella boats only run in the summer half of the year.
